The twelve hour drive went by,
In the blink of an eye,

Then we sat like cowboys,
On the beach, in Santa Monica and
That night we slept in separate beds

And in the morning, out on the I-5
The sun rose and it hurt my eyes
While you slept in your seat,

In Frisco’ I didn’t miss her,
Half as much as I thought I would
And when we crossed the bridge I didn’t dream about jumping

All about your mother and,

Your friends that we stayed with

While you avoided my eyes

We left our clothes on a park bench
In downtown Portland, Oregon
While we swam naked in that wide rolling river

We made Seattle
